Sad Sad Tales of Technical Support
Today, no more than 15 mins ago, I received a phone call containing two problems. The first one was a simple printing problem. I just did a round-about fix by redirecting them to another server. Not the proper solution but it gets them working faster. It was part two that boggled my mind. The user is from outside of Winnipeg at one of our satellite offices. This person requires access to files used by one of our Winnipeg offices. Now seeing as we have a centralized server system everyone has "potential" access to all files in the organization, provided you have the proper security rights. The Winnipeg office actually told this person that they would have to drive into Winnipeg and log into one of their computers in order to access the files. Yes...they would have to physically come to Winnipeg. :| Is it just me or are some people just plain computer retarded? I mean...there's not knowing, and then there's "I'm technologically retarded". I really don't want to know who said that because franky...I didn't even laugh about it. Seriously, it is just plain sad.
